Holy Week Reflections

Holy Week has begun leading up to Easter.  I was talking with a co-worker about Easter this morning.  We were talking about our past Easter experiences and the various things we have done for Easter including our plans for this Sunday.

Strange thought.  What is the first thing that comes to my mind when Easter is discussed?

The smell of boiled eggs.

  1. How do we even prepare ourselves for Easter? The Resurrection? We seem to have lost an anticipation for the ascension of The Peasant. We don’t seem to need a Christ anymore. What is this talk about the coming of the Counselor? What is this beholding of all things being made new? The American Dream is so pervasive that even those who go through the struggle thirst for something other than righteousness – the Shalom of Yahweh. What do people really hope for nowadays?
